Present a list of 15 random items — rope, flare gun, mirror, sack of rice, deck of cards, gold bar, umbrella. Split into breakout groups of 3–4. Each group must agree on the 10 they’d take, ranked. 15 minutes to decide. Debrief as a full team — which groups prioritized survival vs. signaling vs. long-term planning?

Why leadership teams run it: the exercise surfaces decision-making styles. Who anchors first? Who pushes back? Who disappears? It’s a useful mirror for how the team handles ambiguity.

No right answer: the insight is in the how, not the what. The debrief is where the value is — skip it and you’ve wasted 30 minutes.
